Carson California USA Invites Oil Drilling and Fracking into the South Bay

Carson city council votes to welcome oil drilling on the Newport-Inglewood fault into our densely populated South Bay Communities.  Among many other things, they voted to allow oilrigs 750ft from our residential communities, oil drilling directly under our homes and schools, and to make the residents responsible to pay more than 4 billion dollars to stop fracking.

Sometimes in life, you have to sit back and allow the other side to show their hand.  Show their hand is exactly what they did when they voted to pass the oil & gas code/fracking ban.

Tuesday, May 17, 2016 city council approved the 2nd reading of the oil & gas code on June 17, 2016 this ordinance is law.  City manager Ken Farfsing told us the ban on fracking is not on the agenda because “The City Attorney is still reviewing the fracking ban based in new court cases.”  Mr. Farfsing has not answered our question as to what new court cases were holding up the ban on fracking.  Nonetheless, city council voted to pass the oil and gas code and ban on fracking which tells us they are not just welcoming oil drilling, they are willing to make the residents responsible for the EXPECTED PROFITS.  We are unsure when the Ban on Fracking will appear on the agenda but until they pass a ban on fracking without the loophole IT’S ANYTHING GOES HERE IN CARSON!

Carson city council made it clear where their loyalties lie and it’s not with the people of Carson.  In fact, the ordinance they voted to pass is much worse than we could have ever imagined.  It’s very clear they did not consider the concerns of the residents.  However, as stated by Councilwoman Lula Davis-Holmes with no mention of the residents “I say thank you to the staff, and to the consultant, and to the oil industry we heard you”.

This statement was made at the April 5, 2016 council meeting after the city council voted to pass the Oil & Gas Code and the outrageous Ban on Fracking, you can access video of all meetings on the City of Carson’s website.

I wonder how many of “our city representatives” actually reside in the city. They don’t care because they don’t live here.
